Canada didn’t end up on the podium Monday night, but there is plenty to be excited about heading into Day 11 in Rio.

Here are some notable events and Canadians to closely monitor on Tuesday.

Women’s soccer
The Canadians have their biggest match of the competition as they take on Germany in the semifinal round (scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET). It will be the second clash between the two countries after Canada stunned Germany with a 2-1 upset in the final game of group play. The victory was Canada’s first over the Germans in 13 meetings and gave the Canadians the No. 1 spot in Group F. Canada has never played in a gold medal match in women’s soccer and are looking to surpass their bronze medal finish at London 2012. Sweden and Brazil face off in the other semifinal at 12:00 p.m.

High jump
Derek Drouin cruised through the qualification round on Sunday and is a legitimate contender for a medal in Tuesday’s final, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. The 26-year-old Drouin was one of 11 jumpers to clear 2.29 metres in Sunday night’s qualification round where he went 4-for-4.

Women’s basketball
After going 3-2 in the preliminary round, Canada’s women’s basketball team will take on France in quarter-final action Tuesday night at 9:15 p.m. France had an identical 3-2 record while Canada opened the tournament at 3-0 before losses to the United States and Spain.

Boxing
Mandy Bujold will face Cancan Ren of China in her quarter-final match of the women’s fly (48-51 kg) competition. However, Canada’s Arthur Biyarslanov will not be participating on Tuesday in the men’s competition as he was eliminated in his last bout.

Men’s 3-metre springboard
Canada’s Philippe Gagne qualified for the semifinals on Monday, finishing with a score of 400.75. The semifinal round begins at 9:00 a.m. and the final round will take place later in the day at 5:00 p.m. Gagne is one of 18 who will be participating in the competition.

Synchronized Swimming
Jacqueline Simoneau (age 19) and Karine Thomas (age 27) will be one of 12 teams that will participate in the duets final (free routine) at 1:00 p.m. The Canadians placed seventh in qualifying with a score of 179.3583. The duo won gold in the event at the 2015 Pan American Games.

Track Cycling
Allison Beveridge will participate in Heat 3 of the 500-metre time trial on Tuesday. Beveridge had a challenging opening day in the women’s omnium and ended up in 13th place after three events. The final three events will take place Tuesday, which begins at 9:57 a.m. Earlier in the morning, Hugo Barrette will go in round one of men’s Keirin.
