When Depeche Mode keyboardist Andy Fletcher passed away this past May, questions surrounded the band on their future. These questions have now been answered as Depeche Mode have confirmed the release of a new album and corresponding tour in 2023.

Dave Gahan and Martin Gore have announced their 15th studio album, titled Memento Mori, will be released in the spring (date is TBC) and should be followed with a tour.

At a press event, Martin Gore said, “We started work on this project early in the pandemic, and its themes were directly inspired by that time. After Fletch’s passing, we decided to continue as we’re sure this is what he would have wanted, and that has really given the project an extra level of meaning.”

With Dave Gahan continuing, “Fletch would have loved this album. We’re really looking forward to sharing it with you soon, and we can’t wait to present it to you live at the shows next year.”

The band is scheduled to start a run of dates through North America in March 2023 before returning to Europe for summer stadium dates. There is currently only 3 Canadian dates booked:

April 7 – Toronto, Ontario @ Scotiabank Arena
April 9 – Quebec City, Quebec @ Videotron Centre
April 12 – Montreal, Quebec @ Centre Bell
