Soundgarden and Chris Cornell’s estate have just settled their years-long lawsuit over the music recorded with Chris Cornell before his death.

In 2019, Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell, sued the members of Soundgarden and accused them of withholding hundreds of thousands of dollars in royalties for songs that she said were his solo work. The band insisted that they were recordings for a future Soundgarden album, and a long legal battle ensued.

The disputed recordings were made in the months leading up to Cornell’s death, following a Soundgarden show in May of 2017.

The following statement was made today to Chris Cornell’s and Vicky Cornell’s Instagram pages:

While no official details of the agreement have been released yet, we hope we can look forward to the release up to 7 new Soundgarden songs.
