A Yale University study found that music is universal…except for love songs.

With the exception of romantic tunes, themes in music are recognized across borders and language barriers.

Researchers asked 5,000 participants from 49 countries to listen to 14-second snippets of songs. Participants easily identified dance music, lullabies, and healing music.

However, they fell behind when it came to identifying love songs.

“Love songs may be a particularly fuzzy category that includes songs that express happiness and attraction, but also sadness and jealousy,” study author Lidya Yurdum said. (Study Finds)
