After teasing it last week, Steve Perry has shared his new version of Journey’s “It Could Have Been You”.

Perry recorded the track with The Effect – a band that includes the sons of Phil Collins and Toto guitarist Steve Lukather.

Trevor Lukather says Perry has “been a mentor to me” and jumped at the chance to sing on the recording.

Perry says he always considered the song to be a “diamond in the rough” in the Journey catalog.
