The legendary Stevie Nicks has confirmed that Fleetwood Mac will not be reuniting after the devastating loss of Christine McVie in 2022. “Without Christine, no can do,” Nicks shared in a heartfelt interview with Mojo. “There is no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Without her, it just couldn’t work.”

Christine McVie’s final performance with Fleetwood Mac was in 2019, marking the end of an era. The band’s tour that year was already notable for the absence of longtime member Lindsey Buckingham, who had been ousted from the group in 2018. To fill the void, the band brought in Crowded House guitarist Neil Finn and former Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers member Mike Campbell.

Nicks revealed that McVie’s passing came as a shock. “It was all stunningly strange because there wasn’t any lead-up to it,” she explained. “We got a call, and I was going to rent a plane and go see her, but her family said, ‘Don’t come, because she may not be here tomorrow.’ And the next day, she passed away.”

The loss hit Nicks hard. “I wanted to go there and sit on her bed and sing to her – which definitely would have made her pass away faster,” she added with a bittersweet laugh. “But I needed to be with her. And I didn’t get to do that. So that was very hard for me. I didn’t get to say goodbye.”
