It’s been 28 years since Happy Gilmore first hit our screens, and the long-awaited sequel is nearing production.

Filming is set to begin in New Jersey on September 5th and wrap up by November 18th, 2024.

Netflix confirmed the project in May 2024, after months of speculation. While the full cast remains undisclosed, Adam Sandler is confirmed to return. It’s still uncertain if Christopher McDonald or Julie Bowen will reprise their roles.

Sandler said a couple of years ago,

“Wouldn’t that be fun to do the senior tour of Happy Gilmore, and hang out with all those guys and try to write a great script about Happy as an older guy, and having to calm down his temper and all that stuff? But, I never know. Maybe one day, something like that.”

Tim Herlihy and Adam Sandler are writing the script, with Kyle Newacheck directing. Newacheck, known for his work on Game Over, Man! and Murder Mystery, has collaborated with Sandler before.

Netflix hasn’t revealed the release date for the film yet.
