Earlier this Spring, we partnered with GoDaddy to fin Canada’s Next Great Podcaster giving one lucky Canadian podcaster (or team) an 8 episode season hosted on their very own GoDaddy website and a $10,000 cash prize! After going through thousands of submissions we’re excited to announce that Canada’s Next Great Podcaster is:

LIVE FROM EDMONTON ! … well, ALMOST. Kill some time with Edmonton’s own zany personality Sunny Sidhu, as he provides an entertaining break from the day’s monotony with his humorous spin on trending topics from entertainment to politics.  Along with co-host Layne Arceta, they chat with locals and celebrity guests about their personal journeys and how ethnic Albertans may relate to their stories. ALMOST LIVE is a podcast where friends talk about everything from current trends to the downright weird and wacky in this ever changing world and cultural landscape.

Sunny Sidhu brings the fun.  With a razor sharp wit and easy comedic flow, this Punjabi Canadian has it all.

“I have been an on-air journalist, entertainment anchor, news anchor, documentary host and web series host. I have also been involved in the music industry as a producer, artist, DJ, manager, and music video producer”.

Layne Arceta made her way from the dirt roads in Cebu, Philippines to the paved roads of Edmonton with the sheer tenacity that would hinder most people.  With a finger on the pulse on all things social media related, she is the perfect foil to Sunny’s twisted viewpoints.

“Layne is something of a Jill of all trades and master of none.  Raised by immigrant parents in the heart of Millwoods, she comes with all the childhood traumas that come with being raised by asian parents.  Former hip hop and gogo dancer, Layne performed and taught around Canada and had a brief stint in Winnipeg for 3 years which added even more to her street cred.  She now limits twerking to the privacy of her washroom or anywhere in public if she’s boozed up enough.  When she’s not sending her friends memes, you may spot her out on the trails on her longboard, on the lake on her paddleboard, or trying to pass as a salsa and bachata dancer at some of your favorite bars”.

Robin Yusaf is the shy guy who loves to be behind the scenes.

“I studied video production in Vancouver and have worked in the audio visual industry for over 20yrs. Given my experience, enthusiasm and industry insider knowledge, I believe I am poised and ready to launch myself as an independent filmmaker and podcaster. My multicultural background allows me to produce projects that reflect my unique creative perspective and produce projects that fill a niche and have a story to tell”.

Thank you GoDaddy for making this happen!
